Successful funding bids

Richard Lewis has an enviable track record of 'turning around' funding bids so that they stand an excellent chance of winning. His passion and dedication to promoting and supporting active travel and locally-lived lifestyles is infectious and is reflected in the 'enthusiasm' of his narratives and determination to understand and respond to the funding body.

Richard focuses on narrative, including sub-editing existing funding bids and writing entirely new documents. Lessons learned from two previous successful bids will be applied. He can advise on effective governance arrangements and attend Project Board and Council meetings to help guide the process.

ActivePlanning commissions additional expertise where necessary to support successful bids. This includes:

  • Engagement of stakeholders and the public. We recommend extensive and ongoing engagement that can identify supportive opinion and address objections. ActivePlanning can co-ordinate specialists, requiring that particular focus is given to harvesting ideas and addressing the concerns of representative groups including tenants' and residents' associations, chambers of commerce, larger institutions and business improvement districts

  • Professional inputs including baseline traffic modelling, landscape architecture and engineering where physical change is anticipated.

  • Business planning to ensure that returns on investment are maximised for the project. This includes suitable cost-estimates per unit or kilometre of finished infrastructure.

  • Mapping, graphic design and visualisations.
